After five weeks of strong gains in the major indices, the holiday-shortened week brought out the sellers.
That was something many expected, as markets never keep going up without a healthy pullback.
What many didn’t expect was Fed speak that was just plain schizophrenic.
Just days after the most dovish FOMC meeting in recent memory, a meeting where Fed Chair Janet Yellen and company basically told us that they weren’t going to hike rates anytime soon, we heard from no less than four Fed officials that a rate hike could be on the table as soon as the April FOMC meeting.
This is the kind of crazy and confused Fed speak that makes markets very uneasy, and that’s a big reason why stocks sold off.
The key for investors here is to find stocks likely to soar despite the mixed messages from the central bank.
In the upcoming issue of my Next Week’s Winners advisory service, I’m recommending two stocks that are poised to keep performing despite the crazy and just plain confused Fed.
Here’s a sneak peek…
Preview Trade #1
So far in 2016, defensive plays have outpaced the more traditional growth sectors in terms of share price performance.
This classic defensive play has defied convention, and instead of acting like a “widow and orphan” play, it’s attracting capital like a tech stock.
Shares have surged nearly 13% year to date, and that’s a trend I suspect will continue over the next several months.
That means you’ll want to dial up this stock immediately.
Preview Trade #2
This specialty retailer is one we owned in the portfolio earlier this year. Unfortunately, it got caught up in the January selloff, and so we had to sell to protect our downside.
Now, however, the stock is riding a powerful wave higher on strong earnings growth, and its metrics show that it now has completely shaken off the correction that slammed so many stocks early this year.
So, it’s time to go shopping again in this unique retailer.
If you want to find out more about these two stocks, as well as the rest of the holdings currently beating the market, then my Next Week’s Winners advisory service is for you.
